This is an original early concept drawing from the Walt Disney Studios animated feature film, The Black Cauldron (1985). The impressive watercolor and ink on paper concept was created by the legendary filmmaker, Tim Burton, and features the Horned King, and is an early design featuring a more reptilian like body. The Black Cauldron is famous for its place in the history of Disney Studios, as it was a time of turnover as the Nine Old Men departed the studio, and a group of new talent artists were arriving from Cal Arts. This piece in particular is a stunning example depicting the studio's attempts at tapping into their new talents' creative artistry in order to breathe new styles into their characters and films. This piece is in excellent condition and measures 7.25" x 11" and the magnificently evil drawing image measures 10" x 6".
